Brio’s Training Update: Gaining Skills and Confidence

Brio has been hard at work with K9s For Warriors, and his progress continues to impress! Recently, he’s been navigating a variety of new and challenging environments — from busy retail spaces to a trip to the Alligator Farm, where he stayed cool and focused despite curious birds and rumbling gators. These kinds of real-world experiences are key to building the confidence and adaptability he’ll need to support a Warrior in everyday life.

His trainer, T.J., has been focusing on trainer transferability, ensuring Brio can follow cues and remain calm regardless of who’s holding the leash. It’s a crucial step that helps prepare him to bond with and respond to his future veteran handler.

Another area of growth has been Brio’s work on the “stand” cue. While sitting comes naturally (and earns him lots of praise), learning to hold a steady stance is essential for tasks like bracing or balance support. He’s making great strides and showing more consistency every day.

From loud noises to sudden distractions, Brio continues to show determination, focus, and a growing resilience that will serve him well in the field. He’s one step closer to becoming a life-changing partner for a Warrior — and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of his journey.
